  1. Ramagundam Fertilizer Unit is located about 240 kms away from Hyderabad, the capital of Telangana State and in the district of Karimnagar. The Unit was established at Ramagundam due to abundance of coal that was being used as feedstock.
  2. After a series of CCEA decisions in August 2011, May 2013 regarding revival of FCIL, the Cabinet decided to revive Ramagundam Unit on ‘nomination basis’ by a consortium of EIL, NFL & FCIL for setting up Urea plant.
  3. The Joint Venture in the name of ‘Ramagundam Fertilizers & Chemicals Limited’ has been incorporated on 17.2.2015.
  4. The JV would produce 11.20 lakh tons of urea per annum. It would be a Gas-based project.
  5. It is estimated that the commissioning of new plant would be completed by 2018-19.
  6. The project would have its own captive power plant of around 30 MW. However, construction power would be sought from the State Government.
  7. Water requirement of the project is 1 tmc. It is understood that the State Government may provide the same from Sripada Yellampalli Project nearby.
  8. M/s. Deloitte are Project Advisors for assisting FCIL and DoF for revival.
